The Chennai chapter of FICCI FLO, an All India Organisation for women under the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and industry (FICCI), has organised a special program with the most prominent face of Indian News Media, Mr. Arnab Goswami to discuss on topic “How tolerant are we…?”
Arnab, who also happens to be the Managing Director and Co-founder of the upcoming news channel, Republic TV, had been receiving a rousing welcome in various recent tours, ever since announcing his own Media venture, and Chennai stood no exception to that with a packed audience and jammed traffic as Arnab was forced to wade through it and reach his destination at Chinmaya Heritage Centre at Chetpat in Chennai.
He was welcomed by the Chairperson of the FICCI FLO Chennai Chapter Ms. Sudha Shivkumar and Arnab’s friend and former colleague Mr Sanjay Pinto took the opportunity to set the program in motion with a preamble speech in which he raised an important question that was lingering in everyone’s mind… “the launch-date of Republic TV”.
Arnab took the stage as the crowed, which was missing his “News Hour” for the past couple of months, started soaking in his speech with complete indulgence. Arnab despite his sour throat recreated a News Hour debated under the give title of the day : “How tolerant are we…?”
Tvnews4u.com excerpts the trade side of his speech for our readers:
While straight away answering Mr Sanjay Pinto’s question on the launch date Arnab said, “My satellites and studios are getting ready and we will be launching Republic in two months from now. Just like you all, I too missed you all during every important occasion the country underwent. I missed during the Demonitisation…! I missed you during Jallikattu…!, I missed you during Jayalalitha’s demise…!, I missed you during the whole drama of Sasikala…!”
Arnab took on the present day’s Journalism that was closing its eyes on corruption for many years and said, “There is no place in this world which has compromised journalism as much as Laotian’s death. If there is one reason we are launching Republic TV, then it is because the country deserves a better media than the ‘delhi Gymkhana media’”.
“After Bofors in 1990 right up to May 2010 CWG Scam was there no corruption in the India…? What were Newspaper owners were doing all these 60 years of independent India..? They have no rights to teach me journalism. I have broken away. I don’t believe in their rules and I will reach the people. I will destroy the decorative institutions of print media that have existed in Delhi and if they want to pass the comment on me, my flavour, my style of amplitude of the voice, I welcome it” added Arnab.
Finally, he concluded divulged the ideology of his Republic and said, “A Republic that my team is going to launch for You (People) – who don’t want to be bracketed, you – who simply wants to see a right and a wrong and have the courage to fight only and only and unhesitatingly for the right. Believe me this is not a leaning… this is Black and White and together we will… You and I will drive, pave and create unimaginable change through Republic and that is my promise today and that is my promise to you all”.
Arnab Goswami has proudly revealed that Republic is the only Independent Media entity in country that has a clear details of its share holders that openly available in the public domain without any secrecy.
