Within few days of securing US$90 million in funding to expand its reach in developing markets, the Malaysian digital video platform iflix is launching a service in Myanmar.
The service has streamed over five billion minutes of western and Asian entertainment since launching in Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand in 2015.
“As the fourth fastest-growing mobile market, Myanmar is without question one of the world’s most exciting and dynamic countries. We are thrilled to introduce our first-of-its-kind service here,” said Adeana Greenlee, country manager for iflix Myanmar.
“We are incredibly excited to bring iflix’s world-class service to Vietnam and Myanmar,” said Thinakorn Thianprathum, manager for iflix Thailand.“It is our aim to redefine how consumers enjoy entertainment with ground-breaking features and a seamless mobile streaming experience. From movies to TV shows and regional hits catering specifically to the lifestyles and interests of the local consumer, iflix has it all for an amazing price,”.
Iflix claims to be available to over 800 million members in ten countries across Asia, with the recent launches in Vietnam and Pakistan. Additionally, iflix recently announced a joint venture with Zain to make the subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service available in the Middle East and North Africa.
