Chennai : The first week ratings of the new year 2015 has opened on a positive note for the South Regional channels also, just like the case of National Market, where by, all the four South markets witnessing a surge in their ratings.
In TN markets the market leader Sun TV has witnessed a surge to 263,052 GVTs from 235,801 GVTs in the previous week. Star Vijay on the other hand declined to 74,613 GVTs in week 1 from 76,404 GVTs in week 52. Kalaignar TV increased to 28,277 GVTs in week 1 from 23,374 GVTs in week 52. Zee Tamil saw a marginal increase in its ratings to 21,638 GVTs in week 1 from 21,022 in week 52. Raj TV on the other hand declined to 20,709 GVTs in week 1 from 21,024 GVTs in week 52. Jaya TV saw a rise in its ratings to 15,756 GVTs in week 1 from 13,390 GVTs in week 52. Mega TV however saw a decline in ratings to 5857 GVTs this week from 6056 GVTs last week.
In the Kerala market, Asianet stood at No. 1 with increase in ratings to 56,926 GVTs in week 1 from 50,860 GVTs in week 52. Mazhavil Manorama retained its No. 2 position with an increase in week 1 to 15,588 GVTs from 14025 GVTs in previous week. At No. 3 Surya TV increased its ratings to 15,320 GVTs in week 1 from 12,182 GVTs in week 52. Kairali increased its ratings significantly to 5581 GVTs in week 1 from 3063 GVTs in week 52. Asianet Plus too increased its ratings to 4222 GVTs in week 1 from 3793 GVTs in week 52. Amrita increased marginally to 2209 GVTs in week 1 from 2144 GVTs in week 52.
Among News channels in Kerala Market (CS 25+ Male AB) Asianet News scored 415 GVTs against 283 GVTs in week 52 of 2014, closely followed by Manorama News with an increase to 385 GVTs in week 1 against 349 GVTs in week 52 and Mathrubhumi News at a distant No.3 with 279 GVTs against 166 GVTs in week 52, Reporter at No.4 with 178 GVTs in week 1 against 156 in week 52 and People scored 128 GVTs in week 1 against 119 GVTs in week 52.
In AP market among the Telugu GECs, Gemini TV stood at No. 1 with significant increase to 109,827 GVTs in week 1 from 99,181 GVTs in week 52. Retaining its No.2 position Zee Telugu too increased to 106,887 GVTs in week 1 from 98,216 GVTs in week 52. However, MAA TV dropped down to No.3 with decline to 104,057 GVTs in this week from 112,125 GVTs in the previous week. ETV increased to 98,512 GVTs in week 1 from 90,383 GVTs in week 52.
In Karnataka market, Udaya increased marginally to 75,561 GVTs in week 1 from 73,130 GVTs in week 52. ETV Kannada increased in its ratings to 58,013 GVTs in week 1 from 49,454 GVTs in week 52. Suvarna increased in its ratings to 48,899 GVTs in week 1 from 46,277 GVTs in week 52. Zee Kannada on the other hand increased to 38,294 GVTs in week 1 from 36,485 GVTs in week 52. Kasturi increased significantly to 10,245 GVTs in week 1 from 7106 GVTs in week 52.
