Viacom18/Indiacast has made inroads in the African market and is now exploring business in new territories across the continent.
The Company is set to display its content slate for new business opportunities in the market by partnering with Johannesburg edition of the DISCOP content, adaptation right and project market. It has become Africa’s #1 destination for content production, acquisition and distribution business.
“Our shows encapsulate social messages that are relevant to most cultures across Africa,” says Debkumar Dasgupta,senior VP of international business and syndication. The company’s offering includes The Serpent (Naagin), the story of a serpent who can shape-shift into human form. There is a third season of the series on offer.
Further titles include The Young Bride (BalikaVadhu), Second Hand (Uttaran) and Endless Love (Beintehaa). “We strongly believe our content has enormous potential in Africa,” adds Dasgupta. “We look forward to introducing our latest fiction offerings to a larger audience.”
The 2018 Johannesburg edition of DISCOP is specifically tailored to meet the demand of a rapidly changing audiovisual landscape under the influence of a marked preference for home-grown content, the emergence of local talents, viewers’ migration to mobile screens and faster and cheaper Internet.
This upcoming edition will welcome 1,500+ participants including 1,000+ acquisition, production and distribution executives from 70 countries.
